Joy's mind, by contrast, was blessedly and intentionally blank. In the aftermath of the reorientation, she'd felt the enormity of it all rising up like a tidal wave--the passage of more than a century, the ruined world above. Her packmates, her mentor, her tribe were long since dust. Everyone she'd even known, every deed she'd ever done, every place she'd ever loved was as a story from a history book. Her belly was empty, of food, of the life it had held when she'd arrived here, and combined with the emptiness in her heart, in the world, and the suffocating press of the earth overhead, she felt a haze of Rage and hysteria begin to wash over her.

She did the logical thing, then: she took a breath, closed her eyes, and let it all go.

By the time she reached the command center, her mind was as empty as everything else. Fortunately, the fact didn't keep her from speaking, though her voice was hoarse from disuse. "We are the first."

I already knew that I was going to love this character. Maybe I'm a little biased because I already adore you and your writing, BUT, this post was just TOO GOOD. That first bit really hit me right in the feels. Such a visceral description of the emotions she's going through.

So, I have to give one for Farstrider and Leila. they would get one for their cuteness and the hint about being noisy bunk mates but at the same time I really liked the strange natural interplay with each of them on their own, the docs together just working well together and the decent if just starting relationship between the Glasswalker lupus and the fianna Homid. I could see so many weird things happening there. Both characters make me happy.

To Kat for best cousin ever. Not just the fact that they are friendly but it seems natural when they nerd out on little things and ideas, as well as the serious moments.

To Sophia for the weirdness that is their interactions, sometimes so awkward and yet he wants to be liked by her.

To brianna and Bree and everyone else that was in the Fianna scene. Their tribe gives me hope.

Okay, I just want to say I am really digging the kin scene. Mass scene can be a pain and there are a lot of different people in there but there is a depth to the opinions and characters I am seeing that is magnificent. Can I shout out all 15 of the others?

I'm loving the kinfolk scene:
SO to Callie, Gabrielle, Sophia, McCormick, Kendall (there were so many from that scene, but those stand out. I'm probably missing people). All of them made great points and made that scene such a good airing of grievances and conversation about the future.

SO to Siobhan: I'm already loving the character and her pragmatic approach
SO to Dasha for trolling and weird as much as Malone tries to make it not weird
SO to Brandy for her descriptions of her movement during the scene, it really adds gravitas .
