Current Events

There's A New Sheriff In Town
The Newberry Glen Police Department welcomes two new faces to the team: Officer Penelope Waters and Newberry Glen's first coroner, Sydney Fairweather. Officer Waters comes to us from the Boston Police Department, with years of service and commendations. Fairweather is a Newberry Glen resident and alumni of Walton Academy, also finishing a career in Boston. The Newberry Glen Gazette welcomes our new brave residents!

Booming Business
This month has seen an unprecedented resurgence of rebuilding in Newberry Glen! The Waterfront Walk has seen the opening of The Bar, which has already become a hit with the locals. Downtown Newberry Glen recently opened a thrift shop called Yore Store, the first chain store to be allowed on Main Street. Anna Walton of Walton Realty reports record sales in residents and businesses, and predicts another five grand openings before the end of the year.

Next on the Docket
Reports indicate new activity around the Newberry Glen Docks. With the passing of beloved residents Agatha Gallanis (68) and Martha Gallanis (71), the docks and attached property have been passed on to a new addition to Newberry Glen. We wish them luck in restoring the former glory of the Newberry Docks.

Third Suicide Rocks Newberry Glen
In the third such incident in the last six weeks, a Newberry Glen resident was found dead in his home. Police have confirmed the identity of Anthony “Tony” Linetti, Sr. owner of popular lunch and dinner spot Tony’s Pizza. While the official report is still forthcoming, an officer speaking on condition of anonymity said that Mr. Linetti committed suicide using a .22 caliber handgun.

Neighbors and longtime customers of Tony's Pizza are struggling to make sense of the tragedy. Ellie Mason, Mr. Linetti's neighbor of ten years, called it, "a complete shock. Tony was such an upbeat person; if anything was wrong, you'd never have known it."

Mr. Linetti's death comes just a few weeks after those of residents Kathleen Turner and Mark Irwin, both of whom died in early August.

Mr. Linetti leaves behind his wife Sofia, son Tony Jr., and daughter Bianca.

Pot Comes to Newberry
The spread of legal marijuana has come to Newberry Glen at last with the opening of 420 Main Street the town's first dispensary. The new shop is part of a revitalization of Main Street as a "hipster" mecca and hopes to attract both the young and trendy and older residents who will no longer have to travel as far to fill their scripts. 420 Main Street opens Monday, September 18th.
